Bosnia and Herzegovina led against Canada before conceding a 1-1 draw, then suffered a 4-1 defeat to Switzerland. It responded by beating Qatar 3-1 and qualified as one of the best third-placed teams with four points. Drawn against the United States in the round of 32, Bosnia lost 2-0. Its campaign therefore included one win, one draw and two defeats, and marked the country’s first appearance in a World Cup knockout stage.

At age 40, Edin Džeko won his 150th cap against Qatar in the match that sent Bosnia into the knockout stage.
