At its first World Cup in 52 years, DR Congo drew 1-1 with Portugal through Yoane Wissa, its first goal and first point at the tournament under this name. It lost 1-0 to Colombia, then beat Uzbekistan 3-1 with a Wissa brace to finish third on four points. After qualifying among the best third-placed teams, DR Congo led England in the round of 32 before losing 2-1 to two late Harry Kane goals.
