Korea Republic began with a 2-1 comeback victory over Czechia. It then lost 1-0 to Mexico after a move stemming from goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu’s error, and 1-0 to South Africa in the decisive match. With three points, two goals scored and three conceded, Korea finished third in Group A but did not rank among the eight best third-placed teams advancing to the round of 32.
