The story · Round of 16

As a co-host, Mexico won Group A with nine points: 2-0 over South Africa, 1-0 over Korea Republic and 3-0 over Czechia. It then eliminated Ecuador 2-0 in the round of 32. Its run ended in the round of 16 with a spectacular 3-2 loss to England. As of July 15, Mexico’s record was therefore four wins and one defeat, with ten goals scored and three conceded.
