As co-hosts, the United States beat Paraguay 4-1 and Australia 2-0, securing first place in Group D before a 3-2 loss to Türkiye with a heavily rotated lineup. It then eliminated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the round of 32. Belgium defeated the Americans decisively, 4-1, in the round of 16.
